Chocolate Banana Milkshake Recipe

Most of the time, when our bananas start to go bad, we just make some banana bread. But this time, we decided we wanted something new and different. We try not to have ice cream in the house often, but decided to use that and our bananas to make a milkshake.

Justin is picky about his ice cream and usually doesn’t like to eat it just as a bowl of ice cream so prefers to make a milkshake out of it. There are only certain brands and flavors that he will eat plan. When he makes a milkshake, it’s usually a chocolate milkshake made with some chocolate powder and chocolate syrup mixed with vanilla ice cream.

We decided that we both wanted a milkshake, and chocolate banana is always a good combination. So we Justin made a full pitcher this time so there was enough for both of us. Most of the time I like to get my ice cream in a bowl, so he uses the Magic Bullet to make an individual-sized milkshake. He made the shake, I made the glasses look pretty!

The shake started as his regular chocolate milkshake, and we added the bananas into the blender as well. This way we made something different than normal and were able to use up some of the bananas that we had going bad in the pantry.

Making the glasses look fancy is actually pretty easy. Hold the glass at an angle, and drip some of the chocolate syrup in. Let the syrup fall to the bottom of the glass, and you make the lines of chocolate. Slowly rotate the glass and keep dripping the chocolate until you go all the way around the glass.

And what goes better with banana flavor than nilla wafers? I crushed a few nilla wafers on the top of the milkshake and garnished with some more. I actually took mine off the top and dipped them in the shake and it was delicious! But, in my opinion, you have to make sure to get the brand name Nilla Wafers. The store brand just never seems to have the same flavor.

Tyler has been insistent on banana bread lately, but next time we have some bananas starting to get soft (aka when they have the most flavor for putting into recipes), I think we are going to break out the blender and make these shakes again.
